Subject: Turbo C++ query: thanks for help: sorry re off-topic-ness
Message-ID: <4395F66E9D@fs2.mt.umist.ac.uk>

  I have a copy of Turbo C++ version 4.5, and found that to (run programs that
it compiles to a *.EXE in Windows mode) needs file BC450RTL.DLL (which is
219648 bytes!) to be either on the directory that the *.EXE file is on or
somewhere on the current path. I asked djgpp group about this, since at the
time I knew of no other email group nearer to the topic.
  With BC450RTL.DLL in the other computer's C:\WINDOWS\, my Windows program
worked OK. But having to copy a file into Windows is another thing for the
user to do and discourages portability of whatever Windows program I write.

  Some people suggested emailing borland.com . I emailed support AT borland DOT com
and user AT borland DOT com and postmaster AT borland DOT com, and got a bounce saying that
support AT genghis DOT borland DOT com and user AT genghis DOT borland DOT com don't exist; I got no
reply from postmaster@. In http://www.borland.copm I found (a) an email address
webmaster AT borland DOT com, which I emailed but got no reply, and (b) a statement
that Borland don't answer user programming queries by email. So that ended.

  The box that my Turbo C++ came in from the shop says quite clearly "Turbo
C++" and "NEW! version 4.5".

  About how much mail does rec.games.programmer get a day? How to subscribe to
it? (The Windows program that I was writing is not a game but a work program.)
