I have been trying to do similar things myself; i.e. looking for ways to 
access the TCPIP stack under windows NT.  I am having a heck of a time to do 
this, but quake has inspired me to the point of no return.

Spawning the main program seems like a viable choice, though I am wondering 
how the two programs do in fact communicate.
