Well, as has been said before, the closest thing to a GNU printer
driver is Ghostscript - and what a monster! We've got GNU database
libraries, even binary file libraries, so why not a simple
raster/vector print library? Feed it a string of simple graphics
primitives and away it goes?

I guess there should really be a true GNU graphics library, completely
hardware independent. /Is/ there? I hear of libsvga from Linux, libgrx
from DJGPP, and little else... both are kinda PC-oriented. Well I
suppose there's the X window system, but yet again, what a monster!
