   Correction:

   MS-DOG don't have sparse _file_ support (files with contiguous stretches
   of zeros in it) so if ever you get GDBM working, your database files will
   be enormous..

I thought that the latest release of GDBM does not create sparse datafiles?
I just read the DESCRIPTION file at the main GNU site (?? ai.mit.edu ?? 
something like that) and that is what is stated!
