I /think/ you can do that anyway with the linker... if you want the
data section of a given file in a different output section:

MYDATA 0x1234 : {
  _mydata = . ;
  specdata.c(.data)
  _emydata = . ; 
}

Why doesn't ((section)) work? DJ? Eli? Anybody? Does it work in other
versions of gcc?

The whole point of the excercise for me is to create a simple "please
lock this" marker to stick on a declaration!
