I'm running dosemu 60.4.5 (yes it has the patch you mention) on an
ancient slackware release with original really ancient kernel (is a
really old kernel a potential problem here?)

Here's what I get when I run make on a simple makefile:

	Exiting due to signal SIGFPE
	Coprocessor Error at eip=00007bb4
	eax=00023198 ebx=00000000 ecx=0002bf50 edx=000231a0 esi=00005cc6 edi=0006bec9
	ebp=0006b674 esp=0006b638 cs=0117 ds=011f es=011f fs=00ff gs=0137 ss=011f
	Call frame traceback EIPs:
	  0x00007bb4
	  0x000068e6
	  0x00015963

and here's (excerpts from) the current contents of the environment:

	COMSPEC=c:/command.com
	PROMPT=$_<$:$s$:$!$: $p -Fx->$_
	PATH=C:\DJGPP\BIN;C:\WORD55;C:\BIN;C:\DOS;C:\DDJ;C:\PCTOOLS;C:\DJGPP\BIN;c:\msc\bin;c:\msc\bound;c:\bat;c:\procomm;c:\kermit;c:\mcaffee;c:\ext2fs;c:\works;c:\wp61;
	DJGPP=c:\djgpp\djgpp.env
	TEMP=c:\tmp
	TMP=c:\tmp
	LIB=c:\msc\lib;c:\lib;c:\fredex\windows
	INCLUDE=c:\msc\include;c:\fredex\windows
	TERM=bios
	HOME=c:\
	387=N
	EMU387=c:\djgpp\bin\emu387.dxe

I notice that c:/djgpp/bin is there twice--I just removed the second one
and it makes no difference.

Also, note that the PATH is rather long: I use a program named appenv
(swiped years ago from a usenet posting by Mark Lord) to append
additional stuff to the end of thte PATH environment variable. I've used
it for years and had no trouble at all with any version of DOS or any
DOS program understanding the result.
