Yes, it does.  Emacs is the only program for which it does not work
loaded high.  Fortunately, loading it low doesn't seem to matter for
other programs.

Actually, I was running Emacs from the DOS box, not the .pif file.
However, I did change my _dosprmt.pif settings to maximize
DOS memory, etc; in fact, I did this quite some time ago.  I just
installed the .pif now, and it runs ok.  And no, I am not using 32-bit
file access in Win31 - I tried it a year or so ago and it completely
crashed my computer - nothing would work.  :)

I'm pretty well convinced that the GPF was just a fluke - it hasn't happened
again.
