There is a Pentium patch available on SunSite, as well as another place in
the Netherlands.

I have placed the fully-patched gcc-2.7.2 source code on my lab's FTP
server:

ftp://natalie.eee.upd.edu.ph/pub/linux/weirdscience/gcc-2.7.2p-pl9.tar.gz

(that's a pretty long URL, sorry I can't help the length of my domain!)

Don't worry about the "linux" bit, the source code should compile on most
anything.. you'll have to compile it yourself though. It's the unaltered
GNU source, with the Pentium patches applied.

I made just one simple test: the register dhrystone-2 with -O3 on a 100MHz
Pentium gave 194K dhrystones with 486 optimizations (same speed as a SPARC
SS20) and 222K dhrystones with the Pentium optimizations. This was running
under Linux.

If you can get the patches elsewhere, good for you, since our connection
is only 64K. Note that the full patched source is 8Meg gzipped.

Cheers,
