If you explicitely include the rules to compile something, you must
include all the parts.  The last line above doesn't specify $(CFLAGS),
so you don't get any.  If you omit the rules to build objects (*.o),
make has a built-in rule that looks like "$(CC) $(CFLAGS) -c $*.c"
