Increasing the stack of cc1.exe to 512k made compilation of the example
possible.
To compile the original program with several of these arrays, I had to
use a stack of 768k. This seems odd to me - the structure is rather
simple, so why would the compiler need so much stack?

The crash occurred both under cwsdpmi release 1 and 2.

If you suspect a problem lurking underneath, I can post the output
from the tests you specified, otherwise I will consider the problem
solved.
