You can read about the filesystem extensions mechanism built into the 
DJGPP library by typing this from the DOS prompt:

	info libc alpha "File System Extensions"

(note the quotes!).  More details are available by looking into the 
sources of low-level file-oriented functions like `_open', `_read', 
`_write' etc. (just grep for __FSEXT_get_function through the library 
sources).
