Please post the minimal source file that exhibits this problem and the 
exact error messages you get from the compiler/linker together with the 
compilation/link command line you use to compile that source.

How about telling us what does ``cannot get it to work properly within 
the v2.x environment'' mean?  It is very hard to even get a clue to what 
your problem might be if you don't tell us at least that much.
