I found the problem, so please ignore my request
(if you wern't going to already).
I assumed the statement:
..global <_function_name>
declared the label as global and defined it. Actually, it only
declared it. The code assembled fine, though I assume that
if I had tried to jump back to the label, I would have
realised my mistake.
I needed to do this:
..global <_function_name>
_function_name:
....<at&t style code>
ret
(Jez, I hate it when that happens)
