   Ok, I've read the faq this time, but I can't see anything related in it.

   My question is: is there a document detailing the library functions that 
   come with djgpp?  Some thing that shows the functions syntax, gives a 
   short description and perhaps an example?

Get the doc archives, if you have not already, and run info.  Everything is in there.
The names of the doc files are in the readme.1st and in the FAQ also.
