Simply put, yes. I know it's annoying, but blame Microsoft for their
unwillingness to implement the DPMI 1.0 spec. AFAIK it is impossible
to tell Windoze to disable its DPMI services, and likewise with most
other commercial DPMI providers. It is also impossible to install
CWSDPMI over them, because they simply refuse to relinquish
control.
Sorry, but until DPMI 1.0 becomes standard, you can't depend on being
able to use any of its features. :(
