It uses whatever DPMI is available.  Most of the "extension" stuff is
in the runtime libraries.  DJGPP comes with a DPMI providor in case
you don't have one.

It supports inline assembler, but the syntax is very different from
Borland.

Yes.  The language is quite different, but of course it's the same
opcodes (different names for a few of them).

It is good for games.  Quake (from Id) is built with djgpp.

DJGPP is compatible with the ANSI and POSIX standards for the language
and runtime.  There is additional stuff to improve source
compatibility with other compilers.
