I must have missed your original post, Chris, but since it looks like you
are both having the same problem, one reply should deal with both...

When it crashes, do you get the "shutting down Allegro" message as well as
the divide overflow, or not? Also, which version of Allegro are you using
(the beta version or the later 2.0 release)? 

It would be useful if you could try running a few simpler programs to
isolate what part of the library is causing the problem. If you have the
time/inclination to do this, send me an email and I'll give you some
things to try.
