Linux libc has a drand48(). It's based upong gnu libc, but has
evolved quite a bit. So not sure if originally from gnu libc or
not.

Linux libc is available at
ftp://tsx-11.mit.edu/pub/linux/packages/GCC. GNU libc, at
ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu.
