The free TIFF library by Sam Leffler is very portable, the only changes
necessary to make it compile with DJGPP are in the Makefiles (since you don't
have a sh-type shell to run the configure script) and a few bugs in the
handling of binary file access.

I have compiled it for some time back, but I haven't had time to extract the
necessary changes and release it somehow (since TIFF 3.4 is currently in beta
anyway, the changes are quite good to get it into the distribution fast).

I will try to get to putting a set of diffs together next weekend, but don't
count on it.
