Hello all,

I posted a question about available DPMI memory under Win95 a while back
and someone (Eli?) asked me to quote the exact results from go32/go32-v2,
which I will do now. After reading other posts in the group, I also tried
setting the DPMI memory from automatic to 64M, but this doesn't seem to
affect the values.

The following is in a Win95 DOS box

go32 version 1.12.maint3 Copyright (C) 1994 DJ Delorie
Lowest version I can run is 1.08
go32.exe usage: go32 [-d {debugger}] [{program} [{options} . . . ]]
go32.exe build time was Sun Dec 18 16:36:42 1994
DPMI memory available: 4948 Kb
Swap space available: 10968 Kb

(I think this corresponds with the default maximum size of the space space,
 which is 10MB on my machine)

With go32-v2, only a small amount of swap space is reported:

go32/v2 version 2.0 built Jan 23 1996 22:03:02
Usage: go32 coff-image [args]
Rename this to go32.exe only if you need a go32 that can run v2 binaries as
 well as v1 binaries (old makefiles).  Put ahead of the old go32 in your PATH.
DPMI memory available: 4948 Kb
DPMI swap space available: 1884 Kb


When using cwsdpmi and the dos mode without windows, the results are as
expected:

(This is correct, there was only about 3.5MB of free space on drive c)


So either the detection of free space is broken in go32-v2 or there is less
space available to djgpp2 programs than there is to djgpp v1 programs
(I haven't tried actually allocation large chunks of space, this idea
 just occured to me and I don't have access to a Win95 box here).
