Please, if you are not sure, don't post untested and unverified replies.  
The issue is complicated already to make people confused, let's not 
confuse them any more than necessary, OK?

The correct answer and the way to debug FP programs (with GDB!) on a 
machine which lack FP hardware can be found in section 12.7 of the FAQ.
