This might be caused by a confusion about slashes. I had a similar
problem right after downloading DJGPP, and finally mustered enough
courage to tamper with the contents of the files; things went fine
when I changed the path references (in djgpp.env I suppose) from one
of the following forms to another:

     c:/djgpp/include
     c:\djgpp\include
     c://djgpp//include
     c:\\djgpp\\include

I am sorry I haven't got that anvironment around where my mailer is,
so I cannot tell you right now which one exactly it was, but it was
pretty easy to hit on the right combination. "\" or "\\" I believe.
