GASP has a number of bugs (well, more like misfeatures, actually).
Firstly, you may have to use the -c option to set the comment
characters. Secondly, GASP often indents /*...*/ comments, which for
some reason stops gas from recognising them :(. Lastly, there are some
problems with macro processing in that you can't specify an expression
as an argument to a macro.

There are ways to work around all of these problems: if you mail me with
the details of what you are trying/failing to do I can possibly give you
some more detailed help.
