Subject: 2beta4 probs
Reply-To: lee_b AT celestia DOT dnet DOT co DOT uk

Hi everyone,

I'm having major probs with v2beta4, which I downloaded last
night....

The speed's unbearably slow... I've even got paranoid, and started
checking my Turbo switch every 5 seconds !!

I get the "virtual memory exhausted" message from cc1plus, even
though my temp dir's got 38 megs free, and the drive the source is on
has about the same !! I've tried this with two C++ progs, both very
small - a total of 2/3 .cc and .hh files.

I'm using CWSDMPI beta6, if that matters - someone on the list
mentioned probs with it..

All of this is under DOS 6.2 with DblSpace on the source drive, and
no compression on the temp drive, BTW.

Ohh, and while we're on the subject, can anyone tell me why Windoze
3.1 insists on limiting swap files to 7 megs ? I used to be able to
get about 15 megs on a drive with 50 megs free, but now, I can't get
any more than 7 Megs on a 100 Meg drive (yep, it's completely blank,
BTW). I'd like to be able to run the compiler inside Windoze...

Thanx in advance,

Lee.
