The only real differences you should see are in the libc and crt0.  These
were changed to use a different sbrk() algorithm, fix long file name 
support under W95, fix nested exceptions (CTRL-C weirdness) and other fixes 
you might not notice.  You can probably get by just deleting the final 
binaries and doing a make (if you didn't delete all the .o files).

I'll let someone who actually knows something about it comment on if there
are significant changes between 2.7.1 and 2.7.2 to worry about.
