I remember having lots of problems with V1.x's ld in the W95 betas. It
used to lock up the machine hard or corrupt the hard drive. I migrated to
V2 development so forgot about the problems (I think it was only on SCSI
drives, but I don't remember now).

The V2 beta has been tested under W95 (and even supports long file names
there if desired) so should be a supported platform. The odds of getting
a V1.x fix at this point are essentially zero, unless you compile a new
version yourself.
