What's wrong with the nearptr facility provided with DJGPP v2.0?  Did you 
try using it?  You can find its docs in the library Info file, under 
`_crt0_startup_flags' and `__djgpp_nearptr_enable' (the latter even 
includes an example of access to video memory).
