Subject: Re: Text editor that can look at and edit zipped files

I wrote an emacs-type text editor. Currently I am adapting it so it can read
and edit the text of zipped file images which are stored inside *.ZIP files.
Jorrit DOT Tyberghein AT uz DOT kuleuven DOT ac DOT be told me that this seems to me a very
useful feature, and that xemacs for Unix already supports this feature for
unix `tar' and `gzip' files. Where can I find the details of the internal
arrangements of tar and gzip and lharc files? It was a lucky fluke that I
found a file describing enough about the internal layout of pkzipped files.
