Can I just use the cpp portion of the djgpp distribution?

I read the FAQ and I still don't know what I need.  I want to run the
cpp.exe file only.  Is it necessary to have the whole compiler?  Can I
just grab the cpp.exe file and delete everything else?  The preprocessor
isn't really talked about as a separate beast in the FAQ other than 
mentioning it by name.

We are writing a compiler for a DSP and (on Unix) we execute the gnu cpp 
as a first pass.  I would like to do the same 
thing on DOS, just have our compiler spawn the cpp.exe file first, 
and then continue on.  Is it necessary to have
the huge "programming environment" of djgpp to do this?
