Subject: Compiling a new version of gcc for DJGPP 1.12m4?

I need C++ exception support for DJGPP 1.12m4 for a project I'm
working on, but gcc 2.6.3 (the version of gcc installed with 1.12m4),
which I understand is supported in gcc 2.7.x.

What is the procedure involved for building a new version of gcc for
DJGPP? (I heard someone mention that it should be possible, but there
wasn't anymore description involved than that.) Can it be done with
an older version of gcc?

(I'm also interested in compiling the latest version for Linux 1.2.8,
if anyone has any pointers in that direction.)

Where can I get the latest sources to gcc so I can begin on this
question (the latest version of gcc I heard about was 2.7.1 -- is this
the latest, or am I behind the times?)?

Thanks.
