I suggest you get the latest version: 2.06 for Dos from
ftp://cs.nyu.edu/pub/gnat

and use that.  1.83 must be ovver a year old, and the compiler has got
much better since then... fewer bugs, and much smaller executables...  I
have no problems with it and Dos.
