When trying to compile a program, the GCC compiler creates (attempts to
create) an intermediat file, normally of the form C:/TEMP/CC0000042.
I get the message CANNOT OPEN C:/TEMP/CC000042.GB when it goes to the
next step.  I suspect that this is connected to the forward slash, since
DOS pathnames have backward slashes in them.  Is there a way around
this?  Thanks.
