I've read the FAQ's and docs, and the problem that I have isn't addressed
by these documents. I posted some more information to the net on the
problem in some other posts that you may not have seen.

In short, I did all the recommended things, and instead of a link error,
explicit instantiation gives me a compile error on the last line of the
header file!
