1) djgpp-compiled .exe's wont run on 286-machines
2) did you get the faq102.zip? This faq answeres almost any questions    
   about what files you need, how to install, hardware and 
   software-requirements,...
3) please include your configuration and version of djgpp used
4) I don't know how gcc handles \r, but there should be the programs d2u 
   and u2d to do this conversions (Dos <-> Unix).
5) Your makefile looks good, but use gcc instead ld, even for linking.   
   gcc decides what to do automatically according to the arguments given.
