I want to provide some additional answers, left out by 'Boon':

You forgot to install dj112m*.zip (there are four of them, install them
in numeric order).

Also look into the 'configuration file', DJGPP.ENV: is the INFOPATH
variable properly set?. Is there an INFOPATH environment variable
present? The latter might be no good idea. Let DJGPP.ENV handle this.

It's just '-d' :-)

>: Is there an IDE for this thing? And is there proper document for

Sorry, no IDE. But can use any sufficiently advanced programmers'
editor for this (emacs being the 'Choice of the GNU Generation':-)

>: installing djgpp? I'm currently relying on the FAQ.

The FAQ is probably the best to rely on, IMHO. (Assuming you are talking
about the FAQ in faq102.zip, that is. But looking at the list above,
you do not seem to have that one. Be sure to get and read it! It's
really a good reference manual.)

>: Is it true that djgpp compiled programs cannot be run under dpmi?

No, this is no more true since about end of 1993 (if I remember correctly),
when version 1.10 came out. I really wonder where all this misinformation
about DJGPP not being DPMI-capable comes from.

Just my DM 0,02
