A Beta was just announced.  I don't think that it would be sigtnificantly
faster for your program.  V2.0 has much faster library when it comes to
I/O and OS-related functions (such as video functions), but I don't think
you will gain much for math computations.  But I'd suggest trying it
anyway.  And yes, it's stable enough, as far as I could see.
