if you unzipped them on a unix host and then executed
chmod 666 -R djgpp/* 
and then zipped it all back up with zip -r
and downloaded it, you would be fine.
The minimal installation setup can be found at the site fromwhich you
got the zips.

I'd recomend the "anything that is not source" install 8-)
then delete what you don't want.

where did you get your files? They're not readonly in the zips I have.
