Dear djgppers:

I have been ranting, spewing, contributing (I hope), and (mostly) lurking
on this list for about 5 months now. I am one who does not find the
traffic volume on this list excessive; on the contrary, I find the
signal-to-noise ratio on this list to be far better than the average
newsgroup, and on slow weekends I wonder where you all went!

Alas, my work now takes me to where I cannot have 'net access (at least
not without outrageous long-distance charges, and _incredibly_ bad phone
lines).

I cannot begin to express my appreciation to you all; listening to your
problems has helped me solve mine, and when that didn't work so many of
you offered so much help. The support on this list is truly outstanding,
and I have enjoyed being a small part of this group.

Like many of you, I subscribed to this group because I had a problem
immediately after installing the system (Eli's wonderful FAQ wasn't
availble then, just a few short months ago!). I received so much help,
so freely given, that I decided to stick around in case I could "give
back" just a small fraction of what I had received. My decision was
amply rewarded as I observed and participated in so many fascinating
discussions.

By the time I have Internet access again (probably November) this will
most likely have been moved to a newsgroup. That will probably be a good
thing, but I will miss the immediacy of this list and the more-or-less
direct contact with you all.

So... I want to take this opportunity to express my thanks; first to dj
for creating this terriffic system; also to Steve Turnbull and Eli
Zaretski who have been and continue to be so helpful to one and all (and
especially helpful to me). Many others, too numerous to mention, have
helped me and/or delighted me with their discussions. Anthony Appleyard
has been "interesting".

Once again, thank you all and I look forward to reading your puzzles next
Fall. Don't send mail, as I am suspending my account tomorrow!

Good luck (we all need it!)
Bill Davidson
