I used MKS RCS on dos...its seemed to handle the ,v thing more rationally
(acutally, if you make an RCS directory, you don't have the ,v problem...
but you can't identify RCS files by inspection without knowing where you are.

Also, if you don't have an RCS directory, you have the 8+3 wierdness (use
unix and you don't have this problem.  Use dosemu for running dos software).
