Subject:	Need help: gcc in a dos window

When I run gcc from a dos window, it awkwardly stretches everything across
the screen and then snaps back into place once it's done compiling.  I just
ran a small .exe test program with a series of printf statements and 
discovered that the same thing happened while the program is running.
How can I get it to stop doing this?
