YES (%$%^ Windows) !!

I changed 2 things:

- Use stubedit to change the amount of stack to 4m (4 megabytes)

- I created a PIF file for emacs and gave it all sorts of memory.

I don't think that the PIF file is necessary, but I am still testing that. 
emacs certainly works fine with the big stack and the PIF file.

Shouldn't be too hard to persuade Microsoft to include go32 support. :-)

BTW, your system has more memory, etc. than mine, so I don't think that's the
problem.
