Do you have enough environment space?  What does the /e:NNNN switch
on the SHELL= command in your CONFIG.SYS say?  What is the NNNN
number?  It should be at least 1000; mine says 1500.

If that's not an issue, or doesn't help, post your CONFIG.SYS,
AUTOEXEC.BAT, the output of the command SET from DOS prompt,
and what go32 prints when invoked with no arguments.  This might
help finding your problem.
