Subject:	djgpp recompiled as cross to m68k!

Hi!

I have been in contact with a person who has recompiled gcc using djgpp
as a cross compiler with m68k-coff target (that is, an embedded 68k system
using coff output format). He has sent me the files which he has changed
together with the compiled binaries. As I have pretty good contact with the
people responsible for the computer association at my university I have
can put it all at our ftp-area, making it available for everyone.

However, despite several days reading documentation I have still only read
a small part of it, and I have understood even less. It is not that I'm
new to programming, but I'm unused to UNIX and haven't used gcc before.
My only interest in this is actually to get a cross compiler for a small
project OS I'm making for a 68k embedded system. Now, I have the following
question to you people:

First, is there a large interest in this? I believe there is, at least
considering the amount of postings on gnu.gcc.help asking for binaries for
gcc as crosscompiler (most often with 68k target and linux/dos host).

Second, has it been done before? Is there a cross compiler version of
gcc with this particular configuration available somewhere?

Third, is there someone who knows more about gcc than I do, who can confirm
that this works by building it? (I have a zipped file containing the files
which have changed). Obviously the person I got it from got it to work, but
I haven't. Also, is it OK to have the changed sources zipped like this or
should I try to make diff's instead?

Four, is it legal to put the binaries together with the changed sourcefiles
available via ftp without the other djgpp packages? We do have the ordinary
(UNIX) gcc sources at the site.
