Aha.  My bad, I guess.  I know that Ghostscript does X fonts native.
I suspect (ie, I believe that I read) that it also contains code in
the Windwoes version for using fonts available on Windwoes, presumably
including TrueType.  You might also look at the Ghostview for Windows
package.
    In either case, most recent version of Ghostscript is to be found
at ftp.cs.wisc.edu in /pub/gs/aladdin (or something similarly easy to
figure out).
    I think we should move this discussion to a more appropriate venue
(eg, email) until someone actually does something and finds out that
it exercises a DJGPP bug :-)
