If  you install either Emacs or Info, you can read the stuff on-line.  The 
fact that
it's all nicely cross-referenced is a BIG plus.  You can't get that from 
lowest-
common-denominator plain ascii.  Besides, in printed form, plain ascii
documents are barely readable.
