I would suggest "umsdos" for file system. It uses DOS file system but
gets around its limitations. I used it because I did not want to
partition my disk. The whole unix disk becomes \linux and shares the
same partition as DOS and you can copy/move files between linux and
DOS. It is probably slower than the other file systems that require
you to partition the hard disk. You can decide which system at boot
time. I think "umsdos" is great for people to try out linux without
messing around with hd partitions. With Wine you will be able to use
windows programs from within linux.
