Thank you for your information. May be I will follow this path.
But my hope was, that somebody has already some procedures
ready for this purpose. The main difficulty I see there, is
that different graphic cards have different bank switching
requirements, and I still have the hope not to have to cope
with this kind of stuff. (The last hardware oriented register
programming of graphic cards I did is some five or six years
ago, when EGA was the best you could get)

Anyway, I'll summarize to the list, if there are more answers.
