To the suggestion that the sun.soe.clarkson.edu//pub/msdos/djgpp archives
could be broken up into smaller parts, an alternate suggestion:

original djgpp-announce size

The mail filter is the (nawk) one I posted to the djgpp echo a while
back, that tosses out most of the "fluff" lines of the header, leaving
just enough to still qualify as an email file that a Unix mail routine
can process.
 
Combined with gzip, it reduces the size of email echo log files to less
than 1/4th the original size.  This would save lots of download time
for those accessing the files, and lots of storage space and download
support resources for clarkson.edu.

Combined with the suggestion to break up the files into sizes easier to
chew, this would be a real win all around.
