Since gcc uses go32 to run, you can do

set go32=2r1

which will redirect the standard error to the standard output for any program
run using go32, for example gcc.  Now

gcc myprog > file

will work.  You can always undo the redirection afterwards with

set go32=

Be aware that the redirection will apply to any program run using go32 and
this can cause some problems, so it's probably better to turn the redirection
off after you've compiled.
