I don't know what chipset the Viper card uses, but I can make 3 general
suggestions:
  1. Try a VESA driver
  2. Along with the VESA driver, try the univbe VESA TSR available from
     oak.oakland.edu in pub/msdos/graphics/univbe43.zip.  I found that some
     functions of my Cirrus Logic-based card did not work under DPMI without
     univbe.
  3. There was a maintenance upgrade to GRX, grx103m1.zip; apply this if you
     haven't already.
